Third Annual You are Not Forgotten Event

Keynote Speaker: Major General (USMC, ret) Angie Salinas, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas
Location: 1500 W. Commerce St. San Antonio, TX
Time:  10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
What started in 2016 as an appreciation luncheon for, and panoramic photo of, our Westside Vietnam Veterans evolved into 2018’s open invitation to all veterans in San Antonio, and its surrounding areas, from all wars and conflicts.  At the southwest corner of Commerce and Colorado, there is a mural named You Are Not Forgotten. Funded by San Anto Cultural Arts in 2006, lead muralist Mike Roman created the mural to honor his father, Antonio Roman, who served in the Vietnam War, and earned two Purple Hearts. Featuring a free lunch for all veterans, a Q&A with muralist Mike Roman and his father, a re-dedication ceremony for the mural, and live music throughout the day, “You Are Not Forgotten” is a significant gathering of the Westside community of San Antonio, Texas. In 2016 and 2017, we welcomed more than 200 veterans in addition to family. This year, we expect more than 600 people to attend, including 400 veterans plus family, and community members. For more information about sponsorship, and/or volunteer opportunities, please contact Jaime Macias at 210-452-7995.

The ESGR is a Department of Defense organization that was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. The San Antonio Area of the Texas ESGR Committee hosts their annual luncheon to publicly recognize those local employers, nominated by their employees, as businesses that go Above and Beyond in support of their employees while they meet their military obligations in the National Guard or Reserve.
